OMG! Boot camp class tonight was so over the top. I don’t know if Lyle was mad at somebody or what. We did 90 reps, yes I said 90 reps of everything. I couldn’t believe it when he said do 100 jumping jacks and run to the other end of the gym. Then do 90 sit ups, and then do a suicide run and hold your body up in the plank position while your partner runs a suicide down the gym with no breaks. Then we “only” did 20 pushups. Lyle worked me out of my hair weave! Is that just a funny little saying I made up? Ummm no; during the 10 squat thrusts exercise, my weave ponytail flew off. I was a little embarrassed but it was mostly funny. Everybody knows I wear weave, it’s not a secret. Lyle turned his head like he didn’t see it, and most of the class was still doing their squat thrusts and didn’t notice. I went in the bathroom and put it back on real quick, and came back like nothing happened. LOL! Now for those of you who might be confused, imagine a mini hair net on a drawstring, with fake hair sewn on it. I wrap up my real hair in a ponytail, and then put the draw string weave ponytail on top of my hair. What does this look like? Just look at my pics from California, I was wearing the same ponytail.  Anyway, boot camp was extreme, I sweat through my shirt and most definitely had sweat dripping in my eyes when did 60 straight leg sit ups, the kind where you lay on your back and then reach up and touch your toes. Or was it during the 90 arm pulls with the resistance band? Lyle said he was “trying to do something different.” I think he accomplished his mission. He told me I did a great job of keeping up for the whole class. My knee was wrapped up, so I tried to do all of the exercises as long as I could, and I hope I lost like 10 pounds from this class alone!

  1. Carli,

I just wanted to come back here and tell you how much your podcasts have been helping me in the Couch to 5K training. I’m in Week 5 now and I look forward to running to your great music every day. You make me smile every time you come on to tell me when to walk and run (and not just because I’m tired and want to rest). I can’t remember whether it was Week 4 or Week 5 but you came on in the beginning and said “Have no fear!” and it made me smile.

My first 5K is on April 18th and I will think of you the whole way. My goal is a 5K per month every month through the end of 2010. Thanks for helping me get there! You’re fierce!

  2. Carli: I could have written Catherine’s reply word for word. I too am on week 5 of C25K and COULD NOT BE DOING IT without your wonderful podcasts! They make running so much fun. My favorite line is when you say “how did you do that?” Keep going, girl!

    • Thanks Jen, glad you ladies like my goofy little comments, keep going, you can do it!
