Hey Y’all! I hope you had a good Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.  I was able to sit back and look at all of the things I’m thankful for.  I’m thankful for my sometimes stressful job, because at this time last year I didn’t even have permanent job or health benefits.  I am grateful, even though I had to work late on Wednesday because my boss gave me an assignment and told me to have it done on Wednesday or I would “finish it while eating turkey tomorrow.” I’m especially grateful for my miracle baby niece who amazed me when she came bursting into the world at 1.7 pounds and still makes me smile with cute little Thanksgiving Day morning E.T.-like pictures like this.

I’m thankful for my family and for the delicious meal we ate together on Thursday.  We had Turkey, dressing, corn, sweet potatoes, greens, ham, macaroni and cheese, rolls, lemon and strawberry cakes, sweet potato pies and peach cobbler.  I do believe there were some chittlins, but I didn’t get near those.  Yuck!…

I’m thankful for all of my shop-aholic cousins and my Big Little sister who, helped me scope out the Black Friday ads on Thursday night.

I’m thankful even though the first Wal-Mart I went to sold out before I got there, that a different location still had my 32 inch Flat Screen TV on sale for $198!!!

I still laugh everytime I watch Knocked Up!

I’m thankful for my little sister and my dog Nyah who braved the cold weather (it SNOWED) and walked with me in the park on Friday afternoon.

I’m thankful that my girlfriend and I had awesome seats at the OMG Usher and Trey Songz concert tour. And I’m even more thankful that they both took their shirts off on stage.  LOL!

Usher's Floating Stage above the crowd!

I’m thankful that I have workout out buddies to help me stay on track.  I’m thankful that I worked out twice today! The training schedule said I should complete 4 miles today, so I walked 2 miles in Forest Park with my buddy Tee from Team in Training.  This afternoon I was supposed to work out with a new work-out buddy, but she was a no-call no-show.  So, I just went to the gym by myself and finished up the last 2 miles on the treadmill while reading a new book.  It’s Marianne Williamson’s book that was recently featured on Oprah’s favorite things episode.  I ordered it on Amazon.com.  I’ll do a video book review like I did for “Skinny B!tch” when I finish it.

Last but not least, I’m thankful for YOU my “Fans” who read my blog and continue to support me on my personal journey from Fat to Fit to Fierce. Love Ya!

  1. I just discovered your site a couple of weeks ago and I love it. You are such an inspiration and I constantly read your old posts to keep myself motivated. My sisters and I will be attempting to run next years Texas Round-up. We walk it every year but we missed this years because my mom passed. And it is because of her we have decided to attempt to run. She started on a healthy weight loss program just before she passed and she was excited to be able to finally do it. I’ve always wanted to be able to run a race and I want the first run to be dedicated to her. Thanks to your podcasts, I think I am on my way to success.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

  3. You inspire me STILL, thanks for persevering no matter what…!!!

  4. Hola! Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. I’m thankful that the only thing I took home from my folks were the Cornish hens baked special for me and me alone!! Woo hoo, baby chickens until the end of December. I am also thankful that I finally finished off those tea cakes. I made 4 batches (2 to my folks at home, passed some on to neighbors and a coworker). I am thankful that my cousin is making it through a rough time with the help of family. And mostly, I am thankful I didn’t stab my father for acting an ass. But hey – that’s family, right?

Seriously, it has been a decent year and 2011 holds great promise.

  5. Great pics!!! It sounds like you had a wonderful and productive holiday weekend. I too enjoyed the awesome seats and the shirts off by Usher and Trey Songz. LOL 😉 I am also very thankful and blessed for such a great family and circle of friends. You still very much inspired me through your dedication, focus and drive, despite the snow and cold weather, holiday, plus the no-call, no-show of your new workout buddy, you managed to continue with your daily exercise regimen. Good job!!!!!! 🙂

  6. AWESOME Post! And we are all thankful for you and your motivation.

  7. DD, that’s awesome that you will continue to run in your Mom’s legacy. I’m honored that I’m able to help you on that journey.

  8. TexNY Queen, I think this year was the first time I ever tried cornish hens, it was kinda weird, felt like I was eating a “baby” chicken LOL! I’m glad you had a good holiday, and even more glad that you didn’t have to act a fool with Daddy.

  9. Thanks Keta, I had a blast! Now that I saw your “fun” side come out, lol I know we will kick it hard in VEGAS next year!

  10. Thanks Lorin, I hope your running is still going well.

  11. Hi Carli!

I love reading your blog and thank you SOOO much for your podcasts. I have/am just finishing repeating week 3 of the C25K and feel so pleased with my own progress. And I love reading your blog for inspiration. (I plan on moving on to your 10K podcasts once I finish C25K.) So thanks ahead of time for making thos! LOL

What do you think of the new Points Plus program? I just had an intro to it at my meeting today. I feel like a brand newbie! Maybe thats good. It will keep me accountable.

  12. Hey Tracy, I’m getting back in the studio soon (Friday) to work on the next week of the Bridge to 10 K Podcast. It’s hard to make time with such a rigorous work and training schedule. I actually haven’t been to a WW Meeting in a while. But I can tell you that anything that makes me feel new is good to me. My blogging “idol” wrote a great review about it. You can check it out here http://ronisweigh.com/2010/11/my-take-on-the-new-weight-watchers-pointplus-program-share-you-thoughts.html

  13. I’m thankful that I found your podcasts and inspirational posts. Although I wish that I had discovered them sooner. I’m on week 8 of the C25K and I just located your site. 🙂

At any rate, better late than never. I really enjoy the music that you select and have to tell you that the theme from Rocky made me LOL! I know the other runners on the treadmills beside me thought I was losing my mind. It comes on at about that point, close to the end, where the negative thoughts start to wear you down and out of no where…there it is. I laughed my way all the way to end of my first 28 minute. What a perfect song! The timing was perfect and it tells me that some how you were intuitive enough to know that we’d need something a little special to get us through. LOL

At any rate, Thanks again and good luck with your program!
