I’m off work, on vacation from Christmas until after the New Year!  It’s kind of hard for me to call it vacation, because to me “vacation” usually includes palm trees, beaches and piña coladas.

Nyah let me sleep in this morning, and when I woke up I had an urge to go to the gym. When does that ever happen?!  I grabbed that feeling by the horns and ran with it.  I ate a piece of toast, did a load of laundry and sent a mass text to my mom and my sisters inviting them to go to the gym with me. No one replied except for mom, and she came and picked me up.  “I haven’t been to the gym since November” she said.   I told her that’s not too bad, I probably hadn’t been in weeks either.  To which she replied “of last year.”  No judgment on my part, I just said, “good thing you came today!”  And she said, “It’s a good thing you asked me to come.”

We decided to walk for 45 minutes on the treadmill. My heart wanted to run, but I knew that I couldn’t without my back hurting. One of the most important things you can do while working out, is to listen to your body.  So, I did all that I could do, which was walk at a slight incline.

I walked 2.29 miles, got a sweaty shine across my forehead, and felt great about it! I was listening to my new race day podcast, it was so motivational. I can’t wait to share with you all next month. You can download it for free with my e-book.  I’ll talk to you guys later I’m putting the final touches on the book with my design editor. I hope you have a great day!

  1. You Rock, Carli! And you look fab-u-lous lady! Way to go! I haven’t worked out in sooooo long. It’s sad really as I have both an eliptical and a recumbent bike in my basement. No need to even go out to the gym, therefore, no excuse!

Thanks for the inspiration AND motivation to get this old butt in gear. Way to take your family along for the ride too!

Blessings for a blessed and successful 2013!

  2. Thanks Valerie! I put the wavy hair up in a ponytail, before I walked. I have an elliptical and a stair master in my house. Sometimes we just need that extra push by going outside the house. Good Luck! I’m excited about 2013 too.
