Me and my Gym Cousin met at what could only be called rush hour at the gym today. There were hardly any treadmills or ellipticals available. We chatted for a minute and then I ran and grabbed the first treadmill that I saw available. He was over in the free weight section with the other guys. I decided to walk until another treadmill became available for him to join me for training. However, there was a line of people waiting, and after about 20 minutes there were still no new treadmills close by. I decided to go ahead and run because I didn’t want to be too tired during my actual training session. I did Week 3 1/2 (yes, that’s just something I made up). I started out with the three-minute run in Week 4 and then moved back to the 90 second run from Week 3. I can’t tell you exactly how many intervals I ran, but I was watching The Biggest Loser and decided to finish out the entire hour on the treadmill. It was so cool to run during the show, instead of sitting at home on the couch feeling fat. It was an extra dose of motivation to see that if they did it, I could too. Finally a treadmill next to me opened up and my cousin turned on the Week 4 podcast. When it was time for his five-minute run, I said “You can do it!” and gave him a high-five. With a surprised look, he said you sound JUST like the lady on the iPod thing. I laughed and said “Well cousin, I am Carli Fierce! I am her and she is me.” LOL. It’s so funny he always refers to my voice on the podcast as “her” or “she” as if it isn’t actually me.

My hour was up, but I stood next to him and kept encouraging him like I’d seen Jillian do with her participants on The Biggest Loser. ‘You’re like the Black Jillian” he said, you guys even have similar hair color. Oddly enough, but was quite a compliment for me. When he finished his run he said he wanted to get on the elliptical. I had recuperated from my run, and I felt like I had to do it with him. It reminded me why I call him my Gym Cousin, he never gets enough of the gym. Who knows what rountines he does after I leave. I pedaled on the elliptical for 20 mins and finished watching the last part of the TV show. That added one more mile to the 2.6 miles I did on the treadmill. My legs felt like Jell-O by the time I finished, but I was able to pat myself on the back and say you were a real beast at the gym today Carli!
