I decided to start tracking my food again.  I still don’t like keeping a food diary, it’s still annoying and … it still works.  There are so many little things I pick up and eat, but don’t realize.  Like, I didn’t think twice about the protein bar I had for a snack in the afternoon, and nearly forgot about the freeze pop I grabbed out of the freezer to cool down at the end of hot day.  Right now I’m using Calorie Count.com to write down the foods that I eat.  I use it to track the calories I burn as well.  I walked for the first half hour of my lunch break and burned 183 calories.  It’s nice to not only see the calories go up, but also subtracted once you add in your activity.  The site also has a great community of fellow calorie counters that allows you to post your daily report and summary of your day.  I rarely post mine because I already have a hard time keeping up with my blog, Facebook Fan Page, Instagram and Twitter.  Right now, I’ve got all the social networks I can manage.  As with any social media, you have to be mindful of the people who “know it all.”  But, for the most part, people are very supportive.  Even though I don’t post often, I love reading the inspirational stories.  You can see what others are eating that led them to their weight loss success.  You can also set reasonable achievable goals such as no fast food, or committing to eating fish a few times each week.  I like that it helps remind me that I don’t have to be “perfect.”  I’m always striving to “stick to plan” all the time and then feel frustrated whenever I veer off even if just a little bit.  (My counselor said my Type A perfectionist personality is at the root of my issues with food and weight loss.) However, today I had peach cobbler and still got an overall nutrition grade of B+ for the day, despite the desert.  So, here goes to the return of “What Did Carli Eat Today?”  Confessions of the good, the not so good and everything in between…

What Did Carli Eat Today? (Striving for high protein/low carb balance)

L – Salad – Loads of baby Spinach leaves with Feta, Craisins, walnuts, deli meat, light vinaigrette salad dressing (Shocked at the calories in walnuts! Yikes)

D – Skillet Chicken and veggie medley.  My Little Sister was craving my famous Peach Cobbler, I made it for her…and of course I ate some too, but I sent the remaining cobbler dish home with her.
