Even though I got home after 4 AM from my sister’s New Years Eve party, I set my alarm to wake me up at 10 AM. Yesterday was 60°, but today it was cold again so I decided to go to the gym. They were only open from 10 to 2 and I knew there will be tons of new people starting their New Year’s resolutions. They gave away hotdogs potato chips and soda. I was so disappointed that they didn’t give away things like fresh veggies and fruit to help people get started with their New Year’s diets. I skipped the free food, got my free T-shirt and went upstairs to the indoor track. The schedule called for 2 miles but I wanted to walk faster than usual. I put on my Week 4 podcast and got moving. I completed the 5 min. jog and the three-minute jog. I finished the 2 miles in 32 minutes and my average pace was 16.1, right on track with where I need to be for my half marathon training. After the gym, my best friend invited me to Cracker Barrel restaurant. I made up my mind before I even left the house that I would have grilled chicken. I wanted vegetables for sides but everything there has pork in it. However, I still feel satisfied that I made the best choices I could with the choices that were available.
What Did Carli Eat Today? – just realized not a veggie all day 🙁
B – Raisin Bran Crunch
L– Cracker Barrel restaurant, grilled chicken strips, hash brown casserole, macaroni and cheese, corn bread muffin And water.
D– Kool-aid & Fried Apples left over from Cracker Barrel. (I had to have a light day, to make up for the Chinese food, chips and dip, cake & cocktails from yesterday)

  1. Hello,

Just to let you know that I started your C25K podcasts today! I am so impressed with myself that I was able to do it and love the feeling of accomplishment that I have right now, even 2 hours later. It was a great way to spend my lunch hour. I look forward to reaching your Wall of Fame, thanks for the inspiration and tools.

    Bill

  2. good job! I’m getting resolutionized too! went to the gym yesterday and did the bike for 40 min, elliptical for 10 (I hate ellipticals and with the plantar fasciatis, I figured I’d try slowly to get back to running..) Gym today for weights and plugged in my weight into online weightwatchers…

Back on the bus!!! woo hoo… Hoping to be able to start running by the time the weather improves…. I am aiming for 4 days a week minimum of doing SOMETHING!! (and can I mention, Monday back to work after two weeks off was not so fun? ugh…) OK~ the bike tomorrow morning and Jillian’s video on Wednesday…

congrats Bill!!! Carli’s podcasts got me through three 5Ks last summer (after never running a step!) You can do it!!

  3. Hey Bill I’m always so exicted to see guys on my blog! I can’t believe you did it on your lunch break. That’s amazing. Keep up the good work, I hope you have your race scheduled. I will gladly add you to my Wall of Fame. Keep me posted on your progress. Good Luck!

  4. Okay Mama Helen, you know I had to Google “planter fasciatis” even though I think you mentioned it before. …I love the weight watchers e-tools. I think your goal of 4 days a week is very reasonable and achievable. I was only off work Christmas Eve and New Year’s eve, I had to save my vacation time, because right now I’m in CALIFORNIA! I’ll tell you guys all about it soon!

  5. Hello,

Thanks all for the encouraging words. I did workout #2 today at lunch. I will admit I am sore, but WOW!, I feel so good about myself. I am in outside sales and one of my best customers is a runner. Anyway, I told him what I had started and he is so proud of what I am doing he went on line and signed up with me for the 5K in March. My girlfriend is also doing the pod casts, so she will join in too. March will be here before I know it.

  6. Carli,
My sister and I, along with our 11 year old daughters, are starting Week 4 today. I just want to thank you for your podcasts, and I promise that we will submit our pictures when we finally do a 5K. We usually take more than a week to finish each “week” – sometimes we will run the same program 5 or 6 times, until we get the nerve up to try the next level, so it might be more than 5 weeks from now, but WE WILL DO IT! (Eventually.) Thanks again for the inspiration!

  7. Hi Carli,

Just wanted to drop a note saying thank you for being such an inspiration and for the wonderful podcasts! I’ve made it through Week 1, starting Week 2 tomorrow and have signed up for my first 5K taking place in March.

    Thank you!

  8. Teri, I’m not sure where you live, I hope the weather hasn’t delayed your training. I don’t have any little girls on my Wall of fame, I can’t wait to post your pic…well yes I can. LOL! Take your time and do it at your own pace. Hope all is well.

  9. Shareena, March is right around the corner, hope your training is going well. Best of Luck.
