Saturday morning was gorgeous; it was a crisp & breezy 71 degrees outside.   Perfect weather for outside activity.  Me and Mr. Man decided to go for a walk in Forest Park.  My ankles were hurting pretty bad as soon as we got started.  I think it’s because I’ve continued to work out every day at work during lunch, and my body is really starting to feel the effects of all the extra activity.  There were tons of joggers everywhere taking advantage of the day made for running.  I was so jealous, because my heart wanted to run, but my body said otherwise.   I probably should have taken a day off from activity, but I like the positive effects of eating less, journaling my food and daily activity.  You know the positive effects like losing weight and feeling better mentally and physically.  We were only able to finish about a mile and half, because my ankles just wouldn’t let me do more.

Today, I got up and went to church.  After church me and my little sister went to Brunch at an upscale little bistro in the Central West End called Scape.  The food was delicious.  She’s a “vegetarian” ….well she describes herself as “not eating meat” because she’s not sure how long she can go without it.  I think it’s just a teenage phase, but we’ll see.  Anyway, she had an apple & brie omelet.  I tasted it and it was surprisingly good.  I would have never thought in a million years to put fruit in an omelet.  I had the spinach & feta cheese omelet with chicken sausage.  I ate half and got full, and brought the rest home.  After doing a little laundry, I turned on Joel Osteen and got on my elliptical machine.  Today, was cold (54 degrees) and rainy, I didn’t feel like leaving the house again.  The elliptical had gathered a little dust from the lack of use, but I assume with the weather starting to turning cold, I will use it more.  Anyway, I multitasked, and instead of sitting and watching Joel for half an hour, I pedaled for half an hour.  I worked up a good sweat. Then, I sat down and wrote this post, and now almost it’s time for Dexter on Showtime.  OMG, Dexter is one of my absolute favorite shows.  It’s so creepy good.  I can’t wait for the season premiere.

  1. Hi, Carli!
First of all I have to say that I am really enjoying your podcasts. (I am currently on week 5), It’s taking me more than a week to meet the goal of 20min run. I have recommended your podcast to others.
So this week I was SHOCKED when I heard this one song with the following lyrics, “getting his !@#$ sucked”, “you mother is a !@#$”, and especially “your in church on your back and the preacher is giving you the truth and it hurts”! That one made me want to VOMIT!
PLEASE REMOVE THIS SONG! I do go to church, but I wouldn’t call myself an overly religous person, so if I find this extremelly offensive, I’m sure others do too. There are plenty of great songs out there without this kind of language. I would love to continue to support you and this site, but I am unable to with this kind of song!
    Hoping for an upgrade,
    Ruth Ann

  2. Ruth Ann, thank you for commenting. This is my first sort of negative comment. I wasn’t really sure how to approach it. I guess I can say that I’m glad that you made it to week 5. DMX’s lyric are a little vulgar, but I really like the beat, it makes me feel pumped and ready to go, that’s why I chose it. Even though you can “fill in the blanks” I did delete all of the curse words in each week. I put a wide variety of music in each week that suit my musical taste. Some may be offended by Katy Perry’s “I kissed a girl”, and one guy thought “My Milkshake” would make him go mad. I appreciate you running with me and my podcasts, however, my C25K podcasts are complete, and I’m happy with the end result. I hope that you can move past week 5, and one day join my wall of fame. Best of Luck!

  3. Hi Carli,

I found your website through a friend who recommended your Couch to 5 K. I’ve been running off and on (more off than on) and am so looking forward to getting started again with your podcasts. I was looking through your blog…you are quite inspiring!!! Keep at it!

    Thanks for sharing your podcasts!

    Shawn K.

  4. Thanks Shawn! I too have been on again off again many times. Congrats on getting started again. I’m sure you will succeed.

  5. Shawn K? I know a Shawn K? Could this be one in the same? If so, YAHOO! If not, yahoo anyway! Carli is Super-fabulous! Good luck running, I know you will do really good with Carli’s support!

  6. Go, Carli! Stay active, girl, you inspire us all.

Ruth Ann, remember, these are the podcasts she made for herself; she’s just sharing them with us. Pop the earbuds out on the songs that make you crazy and listen to your breathing and the crunch of the gravel under your feet.

Carli, I’m with that guy about “Milkshake.” Ahhh! It makes me want to run away screaming. So I guess I just ran faster, lol. Not enough breath left to actually scream, but there were two levels of rejoicing when *that* week was finished! And Womanizer — I spend the time that it’s on praying and meditating for my friend whose family was ripped apart in the worst way by her womanizing husband.

Maybe, Ruth Ann, you can spend the time that the song you hate is on, you can spend time praying for those who find themselves in those situations, that their lives can be freed from the burdens of suffering and what you find degrading.

    Anyway, just a thought.

  7. Pam, thank you for your support. You couldn’t have said it any better. I obviously like the Milkshake song, but I’ll make sure it doesn’t end up in the 10k podcast. lol Which by the way is still a work in progress….I’m waiting on my friend with the studio. If we don’t get started soon, I may have to find someone else.

  8. Jenn how was Saturday? Do you go? how was week 1?

  9. Hey there! My friend Angela and I worked out on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and today! We started week 2 this morning and Angela is a TROOPER! We will be doing a 5k together in no time! I am starting week 6 this week too. My first solid 20 minutes at the end of week 5 went by soooo fast! I am back to loving the early morning workout/jog/run.

Just as a side note…I love the milkshake song. I used to sing that to my husband when I was pregnant with my son. You can imagine the dance that went along with it! 😉 TMI, I guess…

  10. Jennifer that’s TOO funny! I knew I wasn’t the only person who liked that song! LOL! I’m so glad you made it through the 20 minute run, you’re half way there! Whoooo- hoo!
